From the President

President's Report

October 29, 2011

Greetings Members,

During the past three months I have attended several meetings on behalf of MSFCCA starting on August 15th when I attended my first President's Council meeting hosted by Maryland Family Network. I met with other Child Care Association Presidents to discuss the challenges the child care industry is dealing with, especially in the face of all the recent budget cuts.

On September 19th, I went to talk to providers in Queen Anne's County Family Child Care Association to explain the benefits of having a director to represent them at the MSFCCA board. I plan to reach out to all of the counties without Directors to offer assistance, I would like to make sure all counties without directors are receiving accurate information as to what is happening with MSFCCA.

On October 26th, I had a meeting with Child Care Management Solutions regarding partnering with us for training; they will be at our January meeting to make a presentation.

Our 2011 conference was a huge success. I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for the hard work and dedication they showed to make this conference a success. I would also like to thank our Conference Chair, Vickie Kinsley, for all her hard work as well. Vickie will continue as our VP of Education, and Cathy Greer has graciously agreed to return as our conference chair, giving Vickie the opportunity to concentrate on training.

I want to thank the Charles County Family Child Care Association for hosting and providing lunch for our October 29th meeting. I believe it helps to take the meetings around the state and give all the local associations a chance to see what we are all about.

We have scheduled and acquired hosts for all our meetings in 2012, except for July 21, 2012. If you are interested in hosting this meeting, please contact me.

Regards,

Theresa Rivers
