President's Report
April 2012
Greetings Members,
Happy Spring everyone! I hope that everyone has had the chance to get out and enjoy the weather. The past few months have been really busy for me. I would like to thank every one for all your prayers and words of encouragement during my mother's illness it meant a lot to me.
I went down to Hampton Virginia to attend the VAECE Conference (The Virginia Association for Early Childhood Education). While there I was able to meet with the President and Conference co-Chairs of the Association. We had a nice conversation discussing how each association was run, I feel we are very fortunate when we can learn from others and I hope I gave them some ideas as well.
I would like to thank Cathy Greer our Vice-President of Education for putting our board development together for us at the 99th hour. The location on Solomon's Island was very nice and the food was excellent. The training was done by Donna Fowler based on the book "Creating Magic" by Lee Cockerell. The directors who were able to attend enjoyed it so much we decided to start a book club through our conference call phone numbe. Linda Church graciously posted this information on our Facebook page, which I hope all of you use frequently. Another topic of conversation at the Board Development was the use of technology to get information out there about MSFCCA, so to further that we will be having our web designer at our July meeting to help us better understand what is available and how it can help us.
I would like to thank The Professional Child Care Providers Network of Prince Georges County for inviting me to their general meeting, to learn more about MSFCCA and what we have to offer. I would love to do this with more of our member associations, so please don't hesitate to invite me.
I would also like to thank Baltimore City, Howard County, and Montgomery County for sending me their newsletters, I always enjoy know what is going in with our member associations. Baltimore City, I enjoyed the pictures from our conference last year and thank you for putting a piece in about our next conference. Montgomery County, I found some great ideas for Mothers Day and Fathers Day. I also enjoyed reading Tips for Encouraging Toddlers to eat adventurously. Howard County, I got many ideas from the lesson plan that was enclosed and was very surprised to see our full page add about the State Conference in October.
Regards,
Theresa Rivers
